 NO. 

Q: Are the LIGHTS they use the same?

A: No. Most photographers use strobes and filmmakers use constant light sources.

 YES? 

 

Q: Are the CAMERAS they use the same?

 

A: Sometimes...but most of the cameras that do well for both are mirrorless cameras.

 NO. 

Q: Do they both need to record AUDIO?

A: No. You don't need to capture audio for stills (so audio is something you'll have to learn).

 NO. 

Q: Are the production METHODS the same?

A: No, but certain cameras let you pull stills from video (but it usually won't be RAW)

 NO. 

Q: Are the EDITING methods the same?

 

A: No. Video editing is a lot different but it's actually fun, and less repetitive, than editing tons of stills!
